vivo X500 Set to Beat Apple and Samsung as the First 2nm Android Flagship

The race to put a 2nm Android phone in consumers’ hands has a front-runner, and it isn’t who you’d expect. According to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, both the vivo X500 series and the iQOO 16 have now cleared China’s certification database, and the X500 is locked in for a late-September launch as the first device to ship MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro — built on TSMC’s N2P 2nm process. If the schedule holds, that makes it the first mass-produced 2nm Android flagship to actually reach buyers, ahead of Apple’s usual fall cadence and well ahead of Samsung.

vivo and iQOO are racing each other to the same window

iQOO is pushing its sibling brand hard. The iQOO 16 is targeting a late-September slot as the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro phone from vivo’s performance sub-brand; if it slips, it lands in October. The OnePlus 16 is firmly set for October (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, a rumored 9,000mAh battery, 120W wired charging), and Honor’s WIN2 gaming phone is also aiming for early October.

Why this cycle is different

For years, leading-edge nodes debuted on Apple or Samsung silicon first, with Chinese brands trailing by a generation. This time the pattern has flipped into a two-front scramble: a Dimensity camp (vivo, OPPO) versus a Snapdragon camp (Xiaomi, Honor, OnePlus, iQOO), all cramming flagships into a nine-to-ten-week window from late September. That “who ships 2nm Android first” headline is one no Western outlet has synthesized yet — and it’s exactly the kind of timeline ICT is positioned to own.
