CXMT’s LPDDR6 R&D Nears Completion: Targeting 12800Mbps Speed and Global Mass Production Debut
According to multiple industry sources, the research and development validation for CXMT’s first LPDDR6 product is nearing its end. This marks a critical step towards mass production, positioning the company to take the initiative in the high-end mobile memory technology race.
The LPDDR product introduction process typically involves four key stages: single-die validation, R&D validation, small-batch introduction validation, and finally, official mass production. A mobile memory chip must pass numerous rigorous tests before it can be deployed in end-user devices.
CXMT has now completed the core early-stage validation processes. During the R&D phase, the chip underwent extensive testing across multiple dimensions, including software and hardware compatibility, system stability, performance-power balance, and structural durability. This proactive approach helps to avoid various adaptation failures after mass production and ensures the long-term stable operation of end products.
According to industry sources, CXMT delivered LPDDR6 samples to key customers as early as March of this year and is expected to achieve a global mass production debut in the second half of 2026.
In terms of specifications, CXMT’s first LPDDR6 product is designed for a data rate of 12,800 Mbps, with a base rate of 10,667 Mbps when operating in conjunction with an SoC. The die capacity is 16Gb, with a chip capacity of 16GB, using a 1295-ball PoP package.
Compared to the previous generation LPDDR5X, this new product features significant optimizations and improvements in low-power design and RAS (Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability) functions.
The successful advancement of CXMT’s LPDDR6 validation represents a historic turning point for the domestic memory industry. It signifies a formal shift from being a follower in high-end memory technology to a leader in next-generation specifications, ending the long-standing pattern where overseas memory manufacturers controlled the iteration rhythm of mobile memory.
Leveraging the core advantages of a local supply chain for rapid customization and proximity-based technical support, CXMT’s LPDDR6 is set to reshape the global high-end mobile memory supply structure. It will provide domestically controlled, high-speed memory core components for Chinese flagship smartphones and edge AI hardware, perfecting the domestic semiconductor chain for mobile devices.
