Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design Pre-Orders Open With 16GB RAM Across All Trims

Huawei has opened pre-orders for the Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design, the latest generation of its tri-fold flagship. The listing confirms four storage tiers, all built with 16 GB of RAM, plus a reshaped folding architecture that Huawei calls the “Wing-Spread Tri-Fold” form.

Storage, Colors, and Pricing Tiers

The device comes in three finishes—Obsidian Black, Pearl White, and Brocade Purple—and four memory configurations: 16 GB + 512 GB, 16 GB + 1 TB, 16 GB + 1 TB with a Privacy Display, and 16 GB + 2 TB with a Privacy Display and stylus kit. Only the top 2 TB stylus bundle is offered in Brocade Purple, while the other three variants are available in every color.

Design, Display, and Durability

Huawei says the Mate XT 2 switches to a new “Wing-Spread Tri-Fold” layout that unfolds outward from both sides, with a central-axis design for more balanced weight distribution. The company claims the 3.5 mm-thick body is the first to fit both inner and outer panels in such a slim chassis, making it the thinnest and largest foldable when opened.

The outer screen keeps a pill-shaped front camera cutout similar to Huawei’s bar-type flagships and is expected to support 3D face recognition and face payments. Durability improvements include a tougher outer screen, a stronger inner screen, and a more precise hinge system.

Performance

Earlier rumors pointed to a debut of the Kirin 9050 chip, but the current listing indicates the Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design still runs the Kirin 9030S.
